Plan Your Fall Landscaping Now for a Beautiful Spring!

Trees and Shrubs

It’s time for Fall Landscaping! Fall is the best time of year to plant any new trees or shrubs.  While the soil is still warm, roots can actively grow while the demand for foliage growth is less.  The roots will have time to develop and adjust to the new environment before the heat of next summer.  Remember to water these new plants even in the cooler weather.  Water once a week!

Flower Bulbs

Fall is also a great time to plant a variety of flower bulbs. As the weather cools, October and November are the months to plant these bulbs. Tulips, Crocus, Iris, Daffodils and Hyacinths are a few of many choices! Don’t forget that fall is also a great time to divide perennials!

 Plant Hardiness Zones

Not sure what plants will do well in your climate?  Cross check the USDA map with plant recommendations.  Maryland is mostly in zones 6 and 7 which allows for many different options! So get busy now and be rewarded with the best yard on the block next year!
